Welcome to ISU Parent and Family Programs
Iowa State University Parent and Family Programs serves all Cyclone families by promoting parent programs and communicating university resources to enhance students' experiences and success at Iowa State.
As a family member of student enrolled at Iowa State, you are automatically a member! Parent and Family Programs is an auxiliary organization of the university affiliated with the Dean of Students Office, which provides administration and advising.
Cyclone families can utilize the following resources to stay informed:
- Subscribe to our email newsletter, Relatively Speaking
- Volunteer at Cyclone Family Weekend or June Orientation
- Attend an Advisory Board Meeting each semester
- Contact the Parents' Advisory Line at 1-800-772-8546: your PAL on campus when you have questions or don't know who to call for assistance.

Parent and Family Programs is proud to announce that we help our first Parent and Family Programs Advisory Board Meeting on Saturday, October 21, 2017, during Cyclone Family Weekend. This was a great opportunity for family members to chat with Kipp Van Dyke (Director of Student Assistance, Assistant Dean of Students, Parent and Family Programs) and Dr. Vernon Hurte (Dean of Students and Associate Vice President for Student Affairs) about things happening on campus, concerns that families face at Iowa State, and how to best support their students. It was a great conversation, and we look forward to more opportunities to engage in topics relevant to students, parents, and families. Check out a copy of the Meeting minutes here!
Didn’t have a chance to make it to campus for the fall advisory board meeting? Don’t worry! There will be another one coming this spring semester with the same chance to chat with Iowa State staff. Watch for more information and updates in future issues of Relatively Speaking!
Thanks to everyone that attended Cyclone Family Weekend and the Parent and Family Programs Advisory Board Meeting! Stay tuned for more ways to get involved with Parent and Family Programs throughout the year!
